Supersearch
An applicant may have lived at other addresses in addition to the one they provided on their application.
Supersearch looks for address links. If other addresses are found the credit history for that applicant they are automatically used for decisions.
The search will automatically look at the previous six years and retrieve up to three additional addresses at no extra cost.
Speeding up applications
When an additional address is retrieved this does not mean that the applicant was deliberately trying to hide it.
In fact, Supersearch can be used to improve the ‘customer journey’ by reducing the number of addresses a borrower is asked to enter during their application. Consequently, its quicker to apply for a loan.
Similarly, a Loans Officer can speed up processing by only entering additional addresses if the applicant has lived at the current address for less than e.g. 12 months.
Additionally where the address is non-standard, a Loans Officer may want to
input a second address. This typically applies to flats or Housing of Multiple Occupatiob. For example where someone has entered 'FFF' or 'Garden Flat' instead of Flat 1.
Types of addresses retrieved
Pervious. An address link that is validated by multiple data sources. The applicant has lived at this address at some point over the previous six years.
Forwarding. In most cases this is where the Post Office has reported that mail is being forwarded to this address. This may be a result of the applicant moving home.
Intermediate. An address link has just surfaced. In most cases this would have been supplied by a single data source, e.g. electoral roll or a creditor. It is intermediate because it is not validated by other lenders. This may be a result of the applicant being in the process of moving to a new house.
Concurrent. There's an overlap in addresses. Often this is caused by the annual electoral roll stating that the applicant is living in an address, but creditors report that they are residing elsewhere. The annual electoral roll is only updated once per year and so can report someone being registierd to vote at an address they have already left.
Read more about the electoral roll.
Miscellaneous link. These could come from a range of sources, including fraud checks. That does not mean there has been fraud, this is a catch all for links that do not meet the criteria set out above.
